At present the Head of Secondary and staff interview all Year 9 pupils at the end of Year 9, receiving information from their teachers about each Year 10 optional subject. All Year 11 pupils are also seen individually and as a class at the end of Year 11, after their IGCSE examinations finish.  These classes are given information concerning options offered by the school, taken home for discussion with parents.

An important decision is whether pupils are going to choose UK or Spanish further education. The Spanish department is responsible for careers guidance for those pupils who are thinking mainly about Spanish universities. For those pupils thinking of going to universities in the UK, the Head of Secondary and sixth form tutors advise as to where to get information (such as the Library Careers Section, and the application process through UCAS). Careers talks, often by parents and visits from representatives of English, U.S. and Spanish universities, together with university fairs all help our students to make informed choices about their future.

Interviews concerning university choices are planned for January with Year 12 during special Careers classes (on an individual level). The aim is to provide pupils with the information needed to make good choices, in terms of country, university and subjects. Pupils from Year 11 are encouraged to refer to the library information, including UCAS handbooks and the UCAS ‘Big Guide’, bought every year. Pupils obtain UCAS application forms from the school or from the British Council Library.
