Visit to Microsoft On the 29th April we had the opportunity to visit Microsoft’s asset in the outskirts of Madrid. Once we arrived we were greeted by Elena Dinesen, Head of Human Resources. Immediately after we were given a security card which said “Visitors” so we could be identified. First, we entered an exclusive meeting room of which there are only four around the world. It had a semi-peripherical, semi-panoramic shape, which is said to be the most efficient for human concentration. We were shown a quick demonstration explaining how Microsoft views meetings will take place in the future. It was very impressive to see all the technological advances that not even our generation is aware of. After that, we entered a wider hall, which had a large projector screen. There we were shown newly developed Microsoft software and we were explained the advantages of X-box over other video consoles. We were shown a brief video about some possible advances in medicine due to technology. Finally we were given an impressive talk about security on the web. It gave us excellent information so that we could be aware of all the possible dangers which were unknown to us. We were advised on what images to post, what information to give out and how to use passwords efficiently. This was the most helpful speech because it was related to situations we encounter on a daily basis. We were lucky to be given several presents from Microsoft and a pen-drive containing useful information. We enjoyed the trip a lot and it was very useful.
